The new Jetta! It's all grown up. Sort of!
Volkswagen is celebrating this year, 50 years of bringing their cars to North America.
The new Jetta sedan is the first of the eight new products, that will be introduced over the next one and the half year.
This car was build for people who would like to enjoy their driving as much as possible, rather than people who are looking for a car to get to point 1 to point 2 as cheap as possible.
This is the fifth generation of the Jetta and according to the company it has grown up - sort of - as the new ads say.
Grown up, as the new Jetta more powerful, more refined and larger.
Growing up means the number of horses increased under the hood. At first it will be offered with the basic engine. It is the 2.5 liter inline five (150 horsepower). Later on several different engine will complete the line up. Probability most Canadians will prefer the 1.9 L. diesel and at the South of the border most likely the 2.0 L turbo will be the engine of choice.

The new Golf has been traveling the European highways about the year now. In 2006 they will available in Canada also.
The 2006 Golf will be larger than the one currently available at VW dealerships. It's 2.3 inches longer, an inch wider and 1.5 inches taller, with most of the increase translating into more interior space. Its styling cues, from the grille work to light treatments, are shared with recent VW introductions such as the Touareg SUV and big Phaeton luxury sedan.
Base price $18,500 (two or four door hatchback), 4 speed manual transmission, 1.9 liter SOHC l4 or 1.8 turbo diesel engine. Optional five speed manual or five speed automatic transmission. All models come with good quality stereo and anti lock brakes. Traction and stability control is optional.
Underneath, the 2006 Golf benefits from a sophisticated multi-link rear suspension that should improve both ride quality and handling. Wheel sizes range from 15 to 17 inches. New options like leather and a DVD-based navigation system may push the price over $25,000.
