BMW Welt’s indoor motocross show

Taking delivery of a new BMW is a proud moment of every BMW owner. Make it even more unforgettable by visiting and pick up the new vehicle in the state of the art BMW Welt’s delivery center in Munich.

There are many other things to see there as I alredy talked about in one of my previous post. One of the thing what I did not mentioned is, the in house motocross show…

If you are lucky enough, you might see the Bavarian Chris Pfeiffer in-door performance. If you are not that lucky, you will see his team show. He is there or he isn’t the show still going on.

He jumps backwards over the handlebars, lands on the tank, reaches for the throttle and revs up. The clutch clicks and the front wheel climbs into the air, and he drives off, casually perched on the tank, legs dangling off the side. Bavarian Chris Pfeiffer is good at what he does. What he does is stunt riding, and Pfeiffer is a four-time world champion in the sport – he is the best there is.

His stunt partner since 2006 has been a BMW F 800. The bike has helped him bag four world championship titles. “Just six years ago I couldn’t have imagined riding for BMW,” he confesses. Back then BMW motorbikes did not have the same dynamic image enjoyed by the cars; they were seen rather as models for older people, designed for tranquil road travel rather than for the young, daring, and active. “Then one day BMW showed me the F 800 and I immediately realized what huge potential the bike had.”

My visit to BMW Welt, BMW World to Munich, Germany

Ever since, Chris Pfeiffer has been a brand ambassador for BMW. He embodies better than anyone else the complete image transformation BMW Motorrad has undergone. Pfeiffer is a family man with a degree in Biology and Sport, but he can also boast four victories in the world’s toughest enduro race, the Hare Scramble on Austria’s Erzberg – and of course his skills as a motorbike acrobat are unsurpassed.

Fans around the world, especially in the USA, the birthplace and main showplace of this spectacular sport, flock to see “the crazy German” perform his breathtaking, seemingly impossible stunts -weekend bikers are generally dumbstruck the first time they see him in action.

From A to B, however, Pfeiffer drives a BMW HP2 Megamoto, a high-performance model with a 1200 cc Boxer engine. He is equally impressed by the dynamics of the new BMW S 1000 RR pure-sport superbike that’s currently causing a global stir. “This machine is the very essence of the brand makeover,” says Pfeiffer. “It makes it clear to everyone that BMW Motorrad are serious about sport.” Pfeiffer knows he is a key part of this transformation, and knows being part of the “drive for dynamism” has its advantages, especially when he gets to mount his S1000 RR and just enjoy the acceleration, the thrill of high speeds, the precision and control, and above all the brakes.

“Hard braking is just insane.” Much has changed since the millennium. “When I told my friends and colleagues that I had decided to ride a BMW they thought I was taking early retirement.” Until they saw the BMW F 800. “This bike helped me to really develop as a driver.”

Before switching to BMW, his mount of choice was a Ducati Monster, which drove him to a world champion title.

By the way I love my Ducati Monster, but my next bike will be a BMW for sure. Which model? That is not sure yet..
